Shenandoah Valley United and Horizons Edge announce new Travel Coordinator
HARRISONBURG, VA— Shenandoah Valley United (SVU Soccer) and Horizons Edge are excited to announce that Kayla Blake has joined the SVU staff as the new Travel Coordinator. Blake comes to SVU with a rich experience of playing and coaching soccer. She will be working closely with the Horizons Edge Sports Program Director and SVU staff to lead, guide, and direct all technical aspects of SVU’s Travel Soccer Program.
Blake grew up in Richmond, VA playing travel soccer for FC Richmond Mystx and Richmond Strikers ECNL. She went on to play collegiate soccer at Radford University during her freshman year and transferred to play her sophomore year at Virginia Military Institute. After an unfortunate career-ending injury, Blake transferred to James Madison University and graduated with a degree in psychology.
Kayla Blake has been coaching youth soccer for over 6 years. She began coaching area travel players in 2014 at OwnTouch Southside, a high-level soccer facility in Midlothian, VA. She also was the facility’s Soccer Camp Coordinator in the Summer of 2019. Blake has worked with Richmond Strikers’ travel teams and was the head coach for one of their recreation programs from 2016-2019. Lastly, she was the Assistant Coach for the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team at East Rockingham High School in the Spring of 2019. Blake currently holds a USSF National F License.

The Horizons Edge Sports Campus is a one-stop destination for sports, events, banquets, meetings, tradeshows, parties, overnight camps, and much more. The field house consists of approximately 90,000 sq. ft. and includes 4-basketball courts, 6-volleyball courts, multipurpose/indoor soccer field, climbing wall and a family entertainment center. Outdoor facilities include a regulation size multipurpose/soccer lighted artificial turf field.
