Pickleball at the Edge

What the heck is Pickleball?

Horizons Edge recently surveyed its staff to see if they knew what Pickleball was? The resounding answer was, “What the heck is Pickleball?” For those staff and those reading, this blog post will tell you all about it!

Pickleball was first created in Washington state in 1965. Its roots began with badminton and have become an international sport enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels.

In short, Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. These easy and fast games can be played indoors or outdoors on a modified tennis net and on a badminton-sized court.

Played as singles or doubles, Pickleball participants use a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Games are played to 11 and unlike tennis or ping-pong, you only can get a point on your serve. The rest of the rules are easy to learn. Visit usapickleball.org for more information.

Get ready for Pickleball to come to Horizons Edge. You’ll lob, smash, dink, and volley your way to fun. More information to come soon.
