Horizons Edge’s founder, John Hall remarked; we are excited about the opportunity to work with SVU to continue to provide soccer to all youth in the area from recreation to competitive travel teams as we continue to improve access in our community to sports programs that have the ability to change the lives of our youth through sports. Although Horizons Edge will afford SVU new opportunities and access to some new facilities, SVU will be relying on the strong foundation that it’s built with partnerships with the City and County Parks and Recreation Teams and Monger Fields along with leaning on the strong heritage of volunteers to continue and even strengthen the club.
Horizons Edge Sports Campus announces a partnership with Shenandoah Valley United Soccer Club (SVU). SVU has been a leader of youth soccer in the Shenandoah Valley for more than 24 years. Established in 1995 as Harrisonburg Soccer Club, then rebranding to SVU in 2008 to reflect the reach of their program. SVU has a rich history throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Many volunteers and staff have helped provide leadership and instruction for SVU to grow into the organization it is today.
The club will have offices at Horizons Edge, which is a 50-acre sports campus located just north of Harrisonburg off Valley Pike on Cornerstone Lane. Opening in the Fall of 2019, Horizons Edge will feature a 90,000 sq. ft. fieldhouse that will offer a 200 ft. by 100 ft. indoor artificial turf soccer field along with four full-sized basketball courts and six volleyball courts. Directly behind the fieldhouse will be a 130 yd. by 75 yd. lighted, multi-use outdoor artificial turf field. Horizons Edge facilities will also host overnight camps with its dorm rooms, cottages and dining hall that can accommodate up to 150. The adjacent full-service kitchen is equipped to serve thousands for special events at the outdoor amphitheater and field house.
